about

'Sometimes I feel that chopped wood is still very much alive.'

'Splinters' is a project based around the Ciat Lonbarde Plumbutter. I like patching this quirky machine a lot and it has some lovely sounds and tones in it. I wanted to push it musically so I sampled it in the Elektron Octatrack for more songstructure. The FX and the sample mangling capabilities of the Octatrack got me in the flow of making songs with the pleasant sounds of the Plumbutter. Next to the sampled sounds I patched the Plumbutter up to make additional sounds live in every track. Sometimes processed thru the Chase Bliss mood, Ciat Lonbarde Cocoquantus or the Octatrack itself.

The bonus track is solely the Plumbutter, not a sampled version but as is. It is an hommage to this lovely looking and sounding experimental instrument. The only addition is a bit of reverb and delay to spice it up.

All sounds are Ciat Lonbarde Plumbutter, sampled and mangled in the Elektron Octatrack and partly processed thru Elektron Octatrack, Chase Bliss Mood and the Ciat Lonbarde Cocoquantus. All tracks are recorded in single takes thru an Elektron Analog Heat. These are just the raw tracks with a little bit of mastering with Ozone in Ableton Live Lite.
